With thirteen days left in the campaign, the Loot and Recruit Kickstarter is just $941 short of funding. This is surprising, given the excellent reception the game has received from those who have tried it. This got me wondering why the campaign hasn’t funded yet. There are so many reasons why a Kickstarter campaign might not fund, but exposure seems to be one of the biggest. With that in mind, I decided to try to help this game get a little more exposure.
So what is Loot and Recruit?
Basically, you are grabbing the goods and recruiting the rabble to help you take the throne as the new Goblin King or Queen. By looting, you get new cards to put into your deck. By recruiting, you are able to add goblins to your platform, helping you to tower over the competition.
Your opponents are building their decks and piling high on their platforms, trying to take the throne from you. In order to do so, they have to knock you down before you can do the same to them. This is where those cards in your deck come in. Some of them will let you attack your opponents, knocking goblins off their platforms. Other cards will let you take actions that help fortify your platform, coordinate your goblins, and otherwise prove that you deserve to be the top gob.
The game board and the cards look great. It’s bright, colorful, and looks like a good bunch of silly fun. I know kids of all ages get a kick out of being goblins- something I learned when I was demoing another goblin game, Gobblestones.
If you want to know more about how the game is played, go check out the Kickstarter. Hopefully this game will find the traction it needs to fund in time, as I really think this will be the game that gets Vile Genius Games onto a lot of game shelves.
